NEW EVENT! - Photography & Shipwrecks Session - January 14th, 2023 - Porteau Cove, BC

1) EVENT INFORMATION:

Join Sea to Sky Freediving Co. & your coach Luca Malaguti for a morning of freediving photography, and fun diving the shipwrecks at Porteau Cove Marine Park. Luca Malaguti is a professional underwater photographer and you will leave the day with some beautiful memories and pictures underwater! 

Join us for an open water session where you can: 

• Fun diving and review some freediving techniques
• Work on any skills you'd like and get feedback your coach
• Dive the shipwrecks at Porteau Cove Marine Park along the Sea to Sky Highway*
• Get some pictures of you freediving
• Come out, meet other divers and have fun! 

* Please note this highly depends on the visibility, current and clarity of water on this day. Safety first! 

2) TIME & PLACE:

• Porteau Cove Marine Park, Howe Sound, BC
• Sunday January 14th, 2023 12:00PM to 2:00PM*

*Note: Times may change based on tides, availability and weather.

3) EVENT PRE-REQUISITES:

• Hold a Wave 1 Molchanovs Open Water certificate or equivalent certification
• Able to swim 200 meters non-stop & comfortable in an open water setting
• Must be 18 years old (16 years old with parent/guardian consent)
• Signed medical statement and liability forms

4) EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:

• Freediving specific wetsuit, two-piece  (7mm thickness required!) 
• Neoprene gloves and booties (make sure booties fit with fins)
• Fins (freediving fins or snorkelling fins) with closed-heel
• Rubber/nylon weight-belt and weights
• Mask and snorkel
• Warm clothes, change of clothes, towels and footwear
• We suggest to bring a warm beverage for before and after diving

Please note:

1. It is the student's responsibility to purchase or rent the equipment needed for the course.

2. We highly suggest purchasing your own gear. It's an investment worth making in freediving.

5) PRO TIPS & TRICKS:

• Try not to eat 2-3 hours before any freediving session (i.e. static, dynamic or open water)
• Do some light stretching or yoga at home before coming to a session
• Come well dressed and warm (yes, even during summer time in Canada)
• Bring extra warm/dry clothes and extra warm beverage, snacks and light food
• Bring a yoga mat or any other equipment related to stretching, breathwork or meditation
